Thomas Beebe

Tom Beebe has been an Outreach Specialist with the Institute for Wisconsin’s Future since 2000. In that role, he has reached thousands of people through hundreds of public presentations with the message of school-funding reform. Tom is also a staff member of the Wisconsin Alliance for Excellent Schools, a statewide, broad-based, and diverse coalition that now numbers approximately 100 school boards, teachers unions, parent organizations, faith-based institutions, and community alliances.

Tom is a graduate of Fort Atkinson High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison with an undergraduate degree in journalism, became the youngest newspaper publisher in the state when he purchased the Fennimore Times in 1974. In 1986, he was named managing editor of the Daily Jefferson County Union.

In 1991, Tom went to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as an assistant to Superintendent Bert Grover. He also served as coordinator of Wisconsin’s “School Performance Report” and a speechwriter to Superintendent John Benson. “The School Performance Report” is the state’s educational accountability tool and involves collecting and analyzing data on school demographics, course and service offerings, and test results.

Additionally, Tom served six years as a member of the Fort Atkinson School District Board.
